Z Covent Garden Café is placed in a Victorian building, which looks onto St Paul´s Church, designed by Inigo Jones. This adaptive reuse project is part of a Z Hotels scheme where we were in charge of the ground floor level and any external works, including all the planning applications required.
The approach for the Café was to keep the space as light as possible in order to showcase the existing high ceilings and ample natural light from the sash windows.
The L-shape buffet counter hides the prep area and it works as a central point to control the whole space. The counters’ top and sides are clad with white flecked stone, creating a big seamless stone piece that blends with the rest of materials used for the flooring and walls.
