Kingsway Rumble project re-established the original layout of the Kingsway Hall theatre´s former lobby built in the 1910s, which had subsequently been divided unsympathetically. We then reconfigured the space to incorporate a new restaurant, hotel reception and entrance.
The project aims to recover the building and its history, preserving all the original decorative elements and restoring them to their former glory through a weaving process, where the new build blends with the existing.
We made the most of the original Edwardian features by linking them seamlessly with the elements of the contemporary entrance, complete with the marble wall pieces, mahogany and the brass elements.
All the furniture pieces were designed by us as bespoke elements which simultaneously serve the practical need of providing comfortable seating whilst organising the space.
The restoration works were carried out by Simon Pavitt from H&F Badcock.
El proyecto de Kingsway Rumble rehabilita el antiguo lobby del teatro Kingsway Hall, construido alrededor del 1910, y que había sido subdividido repetidas veces. El espacio se reconfigura para incorporar un restaurante, una recepción y el espacio de entrada del hotel.
El proyecto se plantea desde un respeto al edificio y a su historia, preservando todos los elementos decorativos originales y restaurándolos a su aspecto original. Esto se realiza mediante un proceso de tejido, donde lo nuevo se funde con lo preexistente.
Las piezas originales de ‘Estilo Eduardino’ se reintegran dentro del nuevo espacio en el que destacan materiales como el mármol, la caoba y el latón empleado para las estanterías y railes.
Los trabajos de restauración fueron realizados por Simon Pavitt (H&F Badcock).
